A Tip on Lighting

Posting on social media is different for everyone. The one thing - especially when it comes to aesthetic - that everyone has in common is this: good lighting. There are a number of different ways you can get a good picture out of the moment or a day that you’re creating content. I will outline those ways that you can get the best lighting for your product, lifestyle, and video content. Now, we’re not all photographers, however, there are still ways you can take some content photos with a sufficient phone camera and these recommendations.

  1. Natural Light

Natural light is your best friend when you’re looking for something bright and motivating. What is more motivating than the sun itself? Plus, it makes everything look super vibrant and clean. Try using a big window to put your product or lifestyle photos in front of - just make sure the subject in question is facing the natural light instead of the natural light coming from the back.

2. Ring Light

A Ring Light comes in a couple different sizes. From a large standing light to a ring light that clips to your phone, they are the perfect solutions to night time and insufficient lighting in a room. These light up the space in which you’re either taking a picture or filming video. It tends to be much more even than a tableside lamp or standing lamp. Ring lights can be inexpensive but, keep in mind, it’s still an expense for better lighting.

3. Overhead light

If you don’t have a ring light, the overhead is the best option when you’re taking some content photos at night or somewhere where there isn’t sufficient lighting.

If all else fails, you can use these apps to adjust the lighting:

  1. Adobe Lightroom

  2. VSCO

  3. Relight

  4. Afterlight

  5. Litely

Content creation can be super fun if you are patient with time, understanding, and patience. Good luck in your future endeavors of content marketing.
